Wrecked car in foreground, people standing in the background

Aya’s car. RIP.

Welcome to the SPAAC SNACC podcast! The Seattle chapter of Progressive Asian American Christians (PAAC) is turning our collective obsession with food and other miscellaneous snaccs into an audio experience. In this episode, we begin with an introduction to all six of our snaccast hosts – Aya, Christina, Jenny, Mickey, Pauline, and Thomas – before launching into the origin story of this podcast, which involves pizzas, cars, and profanity. Aya shares the near-death experience that fortunately left her unscathed and made her somehow even more productive than she usually is. Launching “straight into shit” – as Aya says – we dish on SPAAC’s future plans, which includes a national PAAC conference in Seattle slated for 2020. Finally, we talk about what each of us are snacking on, ranging from novels to a deep need for sleep.

Special note: This podcast was recorded on June 3rd, 2019, on the eve of the 30th anniversary of the Tiananmen Square Massacre, referenced in this podcast. Commemorative events in Hong Kong related to Tiananmen closely preceded a series of protests against the Hong Kong Government, which began on June 9th, 2019. For more information, click here.
